Overall, Wheel of Fortune is credited with being the longest running television game show in America, and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. People of all ages love to watch the show and try to guess the fun word puzzles!

Wheel of Fortune made its television debut in 1975, and was created by Merv Griffin, the mastermind was also behind the famous game show Jeopardy! The show was originally hosted by Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford. In 1981, however, Chuck Woolery left the show, to be replaced by Pat Sajak. Vanna White is an icon with her stunning dresses and winning smile. She’s left a far more lasting impact on the show than previous co-host, Susan Stafford. Stafford co-hosted for over ten years before finally deciding to leave in order to pursue her love of humanitarian work. After leaving the position open, applicants all over the world were vying for the position. Of course, it was eventually given to Vanna White, and we’re all incredibly happy it did!

Vanna White may not seem to do much on the show. After all, her main job aside from turning letters and showing off prizes is to stand there and look pretty. However, she’s proven to be more than just a gorgeous model. For example, after Pat Sajak had to go to the hospital for an emergency operation, Vanna White herself took over- and she did an amazing job!

Of course, while we all know Vanna White for her work on Wheel of Fortune, she’s got a very colorful life outside of the show, as well. She Was Put on the Cover of Playboy Against Her Will

When Vanna White moved to Hollywood to pursue her dreams of acting and modeling, she realized she was quite low on money. To make ends meet, she posed for pictures while wearing lingerie. However, the photographer sold those photos to none other than Hugh Hefner. Hefner and White were allegedly friends at the time, and after seeing the pictures, he told her he was going to put her on the cover.

Vanna White explained to him that she didn’t want to be on the cover, for fear that it would ruin her career dreams. He ignored her, however, and put her on the cover against her will. Vanna White was devastated at the treachery, and no longer spoke to him until his death. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she explained that his betrayal had really hurt her feelings.
