In 1969, she won several beauty pageants, including Miss California and Miss Redlands. With this taste of fame, Susan got the idea that she could use her looks to her advantage. Susan started working as a model, and started appearing in some prominent advertising campaigns by the mid-1970s. Beginning in the year 1976, Susan could seen appearing in a notable advertising campaign for the popular cigar brand Muriel. The advertising campaign not only utilized Susan’s good looks and charm, but also allowed her to sing a memorable jingle. The campaign caught on with television audiences, and Susan was on her way to becoming an icon.

After the notoriety that Susan had begun to gain by appearing in the popular advertising campaign for Muriel cigars. She could later seen making numerous appearances on The Merv Griffin Show. Susan appeared on Merv Griffin’s show around 30 times, further increasing her already rapidly growing notoriety.

The network cast her alongside country singer Mel Tillis in a variety series known as Mel and Susan Together that aired over the summer of that year. The series produced by the Osmond Brothers, and not entirely well received. However, it did manage to further increase Susan’s profile. With Time magazine going on to name Susan as one of it’s “Most Promising Faces of 1979”.

Many balked at the pairing of Susan and country singer Mel Tillis in the variety series Mel and Susan Together due to the fact that the two had little chemistry and almost nothing in common. While Susan and Jeff have happily married for nearly three decades. Susan dated a handful of celebrities before meeting and marrying her second husband. As with Dudley Moore, Susan’s relationship with Sylvester Stallone began and ended in the early 1980s. While the relationship said to have gone fairly smoothly, there’s one problem: Sylvester married at the time. The two had a small fling and then parted ways amicably.

Sylvester Stallone and Dudley Moore certainly aren’t the only notable figures that Susan has brushed shoulders with. As a singer, Susan was able to share the stage with such icons as Frank Sinatra and Kenny Rogers. She has reminisced positively about her personal experiences with both of these singers. Nowadays, Susan has been largely content with working behind the scenes alongside her husband via their production company, Big Picture Studios. The program features classic television, film, and music stars reuniting in front of the camera, with Susan as the host. Eight episodes have been filmed so far, and the series began airing on the Family Channel and Retro TV on September 12, 2021.

The reason that Susan was so excited to take the opportunity to host Idol Chat was that she was personally excited to meet many of the stars that were going to be featured on the show. Including Leave It to Beaver’s Tony Dow. As well, Susan has worked with many of the stars previously, meaning that a few of the eight episodes that Susan has filmed so far also served as reunions for her.

Besides the cast of Leave It to Beaver, an episode of Idol Chat has also been filmed reuniting the cast of The Love Boat. Which Susan featured on for a period of time. Another episode reunited popular musical act the Pointer Sisters, who were friends of Susan’s back in the day. They even sang a song together, harkening back to Susan’s time as both a recording artist and a singer of advertising jingles.
