Dick Cheney
Dick Cheney is one of the most infamous names in modern American history. He even played by Christian Bale in the 2018 movie Vice, which tells the story of how Cheney became Vice President and played a major role in the Iraq War.
The movie also tells the story of how remarkably unhealthy he is. In younger years, he was a heavy smoker and a heavy drinker as well. He has also been overweight for most of his life. But most famously, Cheney has a long history of incredible heart problems.
His official medical record states that he has suffered no less than 5 heart attacks, the first at just 37 years old. He’s also experienced a dizzying list of other insane problems which are hard to even pronounce, let alone understand. His record also states that his condition could potentially cause his mental faculties to degrade in ways that would be “insidious.”
Even when Cheney in office 20 years ago, there doubts about how long he would live and whether he’s fit to serve. Yet somehow, he is still alive at 80 years old today. Loretta Lynn
Anybody who lives into their late 80’s considered very lucky. A famous musician who lives into their late 80’s is practically unheard of.
But astonishingly, there are exceptions. Loretta Lynn is one of them. If you can believe it, this Grammy-winning country singer is almost 10 years older than Dick Cheney. Lynn is the most award-winning female country artist of all-time. But “all-time” doesn’t even begin to describe how long this singer has been around.
Lynn has been a star for a whopping 6 decades. Her first single called “I’m A Honky Tonk Girl.” It released all the way back in February of 1960, before President John F Kennedy had even elected. Crazier still, Lynn was already 27 years old by then, which is older than most people who start a music career and, notoriously, a common age at which other musicians’ lives have ended.
But Loretta Lynn just started. She became a star in the 1960’s and continued releasing hits all through the 70’s, the 80’s, the 90’s, and even into the 21st century.
In fact, this year – in March of 2021 – Lynn released her 50th studio album, one month shy of her 89th birthday. No wonder Loretta Lynn has won the most awards of any female country artist. She has 50 albums! Most artists are lucky to be a one-hit wonder.
But sheer numbers aren’t the only reason Loretta Lynn is so decorated. Her long career has been an inspiration to generations of musicians. That’s why many are so worried about the inevitable day that she passes on. Lynn has been remarkably active to date, but after all, she is 89 years old. In 2018, she had to delay the release of one of her albums due to health concerns. During that delay, a tour she supposed to go on prior to the release had to canceled altogether.
How much longer can she keep going? Only time will tell. One thing is certain: it doesn’t seem like Loretta Lynn has any plans to retire from her music career any time soon.

Dick Van Dyke
Dick Van Dyke is famous for hosting the Dick Van Dyke Show, which ran in the 1960’s. Most of the actors and actresses who appeared on the show are long gone no. But somehow, Dick himself has made it all the way to 2021.
Today he is 95 years old. He’ll turn 96 on December 13th. Not only that, but by all accounts, Dick is having the time of his life. He’s stinking rich and lives in Malibu, California. He’s also married to a makeup artist who is 46 years younger than him named Arlene Silver. In 2021, Van Dyke also received the Kennedy Center Honors, where he sat next to his wife in the front row.
Van Dyke has managed to reach his incredibly old age despite many obstacles. He was a heavy smoker for most of his life. He also struggled with alcoholism, and even checked into rehab once in 1972. Crazier still, Van Dyke also survived a horrific car accident at the age of 87. His Jaguar caught fire in the middle of the freeway outside Los Angeles. Even though the car itself literally burned until there was nothing left but the frame, Van Dyke managed to emerge not only alive, but uninjured.
This sounds impossible, but it was thanks in part to the help of some good Samaritans nearby who helped rescue Van Dyke. It was also due in part to the fact that Dick Van Dyke seemingly refuses to die. But how long can he keep that up? Nobody can live forever.
Henry Kissinger
Henry Kissinger has been a controversial political figure for decades. He is most famous for his role as a National Security Advisor and later as Secretary of State in the 1970’s. He is a major figure in 20th century history. His name can found in textbooks in every classroom in the country.
However, something that is not so easily found is the startling fact that this major historical figure still alive. Despite being born in the Weimar Republic, now Germany, all the way back in 1923, and despite having to flee for America to escape the Nazis when he was a teenager, Kissinger has lived to see his 98th birthday, which came on May 27th, 2021. This makes him the oldest living former US Cabinet member, and the only person from President Richard Nixon’s Cabinet who is still living.
With all the extra time he’s given on Earth, Kissinger has done a ton of things. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973, but he didn’t even attend the ceremony. That might have been because he was busy hitting the gym so he could become the very first honorary member of the Harlem Globetrotters, which he became 3 years later in 1976. Shortly after that, in 1977, President Gerald Ford also gave Kissinger some flashy new bling to wear out on the court by awarding him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
In addition to all this, Kissinger has had time to write over a dozen books. He’s also served on the boards of numerous companies. In total, it’s estimated that Kissinger worth $50 million dollars. He has needed it too. Over the decades, Kissinger has dealt with heart problems and undergone multiple surgeries and operations. The most recent was in 2014, when the 91 year old underwent an aortic valve replacement in New York.
How much longer can Henry Kissinger keep going? When you’re 98, every morning you wake up is a miracle. This controversial figure with heart problems is surely near the front of the line for celebrities we may see die in 2021.
But don’t go just yet, because there’s still one celebrity even older than Kissinger.
Betty White
When it comes to elderly celebrities, one stands out above the rest. Betty White has been an actress for 90 years. That’s right, I said 90 years. In fact, White’s acting career began before Loretta Lynn or Dick Cheney were even born.
Her first role was in 1930, when she appeared on a radio show called Empire Builders. Her acting career had to begin on a radio show, because in 1930, TV shows had literally not invented yet.
White eventually transitioned to acting on TV – although she took a quick break in the 1940’s to transport military supplies for the US in World War II. White has since appeared in more game shows, talk shows, sitcoms and movies than you can imagine. Today White has over 120 acting credits to her name. Her most recent role was in 2019, when, at the age of 97, she voiced the character Bitey White in Toy Story 4.
Nobody understands how White has lived such an extremely long time – not even White herself. She says she loves to eat Vodka and hot dogs. She also says she laughs a lot and tries to keep a positive mindset and avoid complaining. Other than that, she says she simply blessed with good health.
That sure seems to be the case. Unlike the rest of the people on this list, and probably the rest of people who ever make it into their late 90’s, Betty White has virtually no serious health problems as far as any of us are aware. Everyone hopes this beloved cultural icon continues to stay healthy for years to come, but the truth is that White has now reached the uncharted fringes of old age. This far out, few have gone before and not much known, let alone predictable. 2021 could be the year – only time will tell.
