Gilligan’s Island was the little ship that could. It literally began with a dream of spreading a message of community and togetherness. The show outpaced everyone’s expectations. It became one of syndication’s biggest hits, selling plenty of merchandise along the way.
Part of its success came down to the expert cast. It took a few cycles of casting to find the right mix. One character was especially difficult to find the right actress for.
