It took three tries for Three’s Company to get off the ground. It wasn’t until the third version of their pilot that they officially aired. Part of the struggle was that it took a long time to get the right cast together. Sometimes, they had to go to the actors instead of the other way around.

One of the most memorable parts of the entire series was its catchy theme song. It was written by a well-known hit-maker. The opening sequence is also important because eagle-eyed viewers can catch new details in early and later season versions. The show was much more serious behind the scenes than on air. Cast members would often get chastised by the strict showrunners. Perhaps the most well-known drama occurred when Suzanne Sommers wasn’t satisfied with her salary.

Despite this, the show became so popular that it led to several spin-offs. One followed the Ropers, and the other had an almost entirely new set of characters. They didn’t last long but showed the dedication fans had for Three’s Company. They didn’t care if a few episodes left them scratching their head or if there was drama behind the scenes. They wanted to have a hilarious escape.
