Williams candidly revealed in his autobiography Growing Up Brady that he had a memorable relationship with Natalie Schafer, the actress who played Mrs. Howell on Gilligan’s Island. Their significant age gap raised eyebrows, but Williams wasn’t bothered, confessing, “I’ve always been attracted to older women.” Beyond his unconventional romance with Schafer, Williams also had more traditional relationships. His brief marriage to actress Diane Martin ended quickly, and he later married Eila Mary Matt in the 1990s, with whom he shares a son. This second marriage, too, eventually ended in divorce, leaving Williams to reflect on the difficulty of maintaining relationships under the spotlight of fame.

In interviews, he often expressed how his public persona as Greg Brady affected his romantic life. “People have this image of Greg, but that’s not who I am in real life,” he explained in 2016, adding that fame complicates even the simplest of relationships. While Williams’ relationships with his co-stars garnered plenty of attention, his personal life away from the Brady Bunch set revealed a more complex individual struggling to balance public expectations with personal happiness. Despite the ups and downs, Williams remained optimistic about love, always willing to approach relationships with an open heart. His life—filled with both rumored flings and real-life romances—showed that the actor’s experiences went far beyond the confines of the Brady household, making him as intriguing off-screen as he was on it.
