Barbara Eden’s Lifestyle at 90 Years Old

Barbara Eden is an iconic actress that most will likely know best for her time playing the character of Jeannie on the classic sitcom I Dream of Jeannie. The actress worked incredibly hard to get to the point in her career where she was able to secure the role, and has since lived a life of deserved success. Barbara has faced some challenges in her life, such as two divorces and the loss of her only son, but she hasn’t let any of these hardships stop her. Join Facts Verse as we explore Barbara Eden’s lifestyle at 90 years old.

Barbara Eden was born in Tucson, Arizona, on August 23, 1931. Despite being born in Arizona, Barbara moved to and attended high school in California, at the Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco. After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School, Barbara attended San Francisco’s City College. She also studied singing at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, as well as acting at the Elizabeth Holloway School of Theatre. All in all, it appeared as if big things were in store for Barbara at an early age.

It has been Barbara’s time as the titular character Jeannie on the 1965 NBC sitcom I Dream of Jeannie that has proved to be the actress’s most iconic work, but she had performed in over a dozen feature films before receiving the role. Barbara had worked with four different film studios before taking her part on I Dream of Jeannie, with those being Universal Studios, Columbia, MGM, and 20th Century Fox. She had even appeared alongside Elvis, acting as his romantic partner in the 1960 feature Flaming Star.

Despite the fact that Barbara had been working in film long before receiving the role of Jeannie on I Dream of Jeannie, the sitcom still proved the vehicle that made her a star. Before, Barbara had been relegated to the role of a supporting player, but I Dream of Jeannie turned the actress into a household name. After the show came to an end, Barbara continued to be defined by her time on the series. While other actresses have grown weary of the recognition they have received for similar iconic roles, Barbara has always embraced the character of Jeannie.

It makes sense that Barbara shouldn’t hold any negative feelings about being defined by Jeannie, as Barbara has been incredibly wealthy ever since performing on I Dream of Jeannie. Today, the actress’ net worth is estimated to be around $10 million dollars, and she is still working to this day! Although Barbara’s career never quite again reached the heights after I Dream of Jeannie’s end that it had during the show’s peak of success, she has still managed to maintain a steady place in the entertainment industry.

With over six decades of experience in the entertainment industry under her belt, Barbara is currently living in a lavish Beverly Hills home with her third husband. The home is just as exquisite as one might expect given the iconic star’s net worth, but folks may be surprised to learn that one of Barbara’s favorite parts of the house isn’t an expensive piece of art or furniture, but instead a collection of genie bottles that she has received over the years from fans. Sometimes, the collection includes the original prop genie bottle used on the set of I Dream of Jeannie, but most of the time, Barbara keeps this original prop safely within the confines of a bank vault.

Today, Barbara is 90 years old. Besides her third husband, Barbara shares her house with a labradoodle named Bentley, whom she loves dearly but considers a bit of a brat. Considering the budget that Barbara likely has allotted for treats, her dog being spoiled doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Barbara’s third husband is a real estate developer named Jon Eicholtz, and the two have been married since the early 1990s. Despite taking on the occasional job, Barbara lives a relative life of peace in Beverly Hills with her dog and her husband, and this peace is much deserved after the actress’s past tragedies and divorces.

Barbara is doing incredibly well given her age, and much of this can be attributed to the actress’s lifestyle. The actress considers herself blessed for what she has and enjoys taking it easy when she’s not reminding the world that she’s still around and working. Barbara has come to peace with the worst parts of her past and is still looking forward to the future. If you’re enjoying this video so far, be sure to hit the like button to show your support! Some of the things that have kept Barbara Eden going strong into her 90s include her healthy diet and consistent exercise routine. While many of her Hollywood kin have opted to go vegan to ward off aging, Barbara advocates a carnivorous diet. She and her third husband eat a consistent diet of steak, pork, and chicken, but she always makes sure that they balance their proteins with a generous helping of fruits and vegetables.

Although Barbara certainly puts a lot of thought into what she and her third husband eat, she isn’t afraid to splurge every once in a while. The two of them have shared that they have a sweet tooth, with Barbara, in particular, expressing an affinity for circus peanuts. While one might not expect circus peanuts to be the secret to thriving into your 90s, Barbara stands as living proof! Still, the actress only eats sugary foods sometimes, and most of the time, prefers to keep her and her husband’s sugar intake to a minimum. Many may recoil at the notion of Barbara chowing down on circus peanuts, as the foamy orange candy isn’t known to be one of the most universally beloved snacks. However, Barbara’s love of circus peanuts is largely nostalgia-based, as she grew up eating the then-popular strange confections.

In addition to putting care into her diet, Barbara also maintains a steady workout regimen, even into her 90s. The actress makes sure that she exercises at least three times a week, with at least some of the exercise sessions consisting of weightlifting. As the actress has expressed, she believes that weightlifting is good for the bones. While often the opposite is thought to be true, Barbara is 90 years old and seems to be much more agile than her age would suggest. Besides weightlifting, Barbara is also fond of walking. She counts her steps and makes sure to get a certain number in every day. Barbara has also done spinning with a trainer in the past but has since given up spinning for walking.

Diet and exercise are not the only things that are keeping Barbara Eden looking much younger than her actual age. The actress is also incredibly careful about what she puts on her skin; with her having previously expressed that she only uses makeup when she’s working and never while she’s off the job. Despite the fact that makeup is supposed to make you look better, some of the chemicals contained in makeup can ironically have the opposite effect over time. Although Barbara isn’t afraid to use makeup while performing, she is sure to never use it when she doesn’t have to.

Although Barbara doesn’t like to wear makeup, she is always sure that she wears sunscreen with a strong SPF when she goes out into the sun. Of course, pretty much everyone knows about the sun’s effects on aging, but Barbara seems to be a little bit better than the average person about putting sunscreen on when she needs to. Whether it’s the sunscreen or the reduced amount of makeup that the actress has worn over the course of her lifetime, she looks incredibly well for her age, and few would be able to tell that she was 90 if they didn’t already know!

Besides her third husband and her labradoodle, Barbara also has several other positive figures in her life. These include her friends from her career, as well as her sister. Barbara shares an incredibly close relationship with her sister, and her sister has helped her through some incredibly tough times. These include Barbara’s two divorces, as well as the loss of her only son from a drug overdose.

Barbara’s first husband was Michael Ansara, whom she married in 1958. The couple tried for years to have a child but weren’t successful until just before I Dream of Jeannie started. That child was named Matthew, and he died of a drug overdose at the age of 35. Matthew had experienced numerous bouts of drug addiction over the course of his life, but his mother thought he was clean in the days leading up to his death. In fact, Matthew was preparing to get married.

After divorcing Michael Ansara, Barbara married a man by the name of Charles Fegert in 1977. They stayed together for five years before eventually divorcing in 1982. After divorcing Charles, Barbara didn’t marry again until 1991. Of course, Barbara’s third husband is real estate developer Jon, whom she is still currently with. Despite having been married three times, Matthew was the only son that Barbara ever had. The loss of Matthew devastated the actress greatly, and she is still severely affected by her son’s memory to this day. The actress constantly wonders if she could’ve done something more for her son, though he was in his adult years when his drug issues became rampant. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Barbara and her third husband liked to spend their spare time traveling the world, with the two having a special affection for China.

Although Barbara Eden certainly hasn’t had an ideal life when her two divorces and the loss of her son are taken into consideration, the actress is doing incredibly well for herself and seems to be going strong in her old age.
