Bob was always a strangely mesmerizing figure. He did whatever he wanted, whether it was choosing a name for himself or going out to pursue music. His Jewish family wasn’t ecstatic about his choice, but they couldn’t hold him back. Before anyone knew it, he was one of the most popular artists of the 60s.

His lyrics spoke to the counterculture era of the time. His songs encouraged protests, and his fans lifted him up as a symbol of the era. Bob never wanted that kind of status. He just wanted to play music and write songs about what he felt. Being put on a pedestal like that eventually became draining.

By the 70s and 80s, he was starting to feel tired and even considered giving it all up. Luckily, he was led to experience an important, life-changing moment first. A small silver cross thrown on the stage set it off. That night, he brought it to his hotel room and had a dramatic conversion moment. He felt that Jesus had truly reached out and touched him.

That led to three years of gospel records and concerts that were more like sermons. Not everyone appreciated it, and many wished the old Dylan would come back. Other dedicated fans thought it was one of his most musically creative periods. The “old Dylan” is back now on his current non-stop tour. He does bring back the old gospel songs from time to time, though.

That’s part of the proof that his faith never left him. It’s always been there since he first started playing music. He’ll always believe that his talent came from a higher power.
