Dax Shepard was banned from Late Night with Conan O’Brien in the early 2000s after showing up intoxicated. He later admitted that he had been struggling with alcohol at the time and was so out of control during his appearance that he got himself banned. Shepard eventually got sober and was later welcomed back on O’Brien’s Conan years later.

Kathy Griffin was famously banned from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno after making several jokes about him that he found offensive. Griffin, known for her brash and often controversial comedy, had a history of being banned from various shows, including The View, due to her no-holds-barred humor. She was also banned from CNN’s New Year’s Eve after her infamous 2017 photo scandal involving a mock-severed head of Donald Trump.

Joan Rivers was blacklisted from The Tonight Show for nearly 30 years after she accepted a hosting gig on Fox’s The Late Show in 1986. Johnny Carson, who had given Rivers her big break, never forgave her for what he saw as a betrayal, and neither he nor Jay Leno allowed her back on the show. She was finally invited back in 2014 by Jimmy Fallon.

Shock jock Howard Stern was banned from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno after a disastrous 1995 appearance in which he brought two adult film stars who performed inappropriate antics on live TV. Stern also had a long feud with David Letterman but later reconciled with him.

Donald Trump was banned from Jimmy Kimmel Live! and other late-night shows following his presidency, largely due to his divisive political stances. Kimmel has repeatedly stated that Trump will never be welcome on his show again.
