Adele

She has one of the most popularized weight loss stories, losing something in the ballpark of 100 pounds since she began her weight loss journey. Adele took the world by storm in 2011 with her album “21”, and quickly gained notoriety. She had a larger stature throughout her career, until 2016, when she began exercising to improve her stamina for a global tour. However, it wouldn’t be until 2019 when fans began to take notice.

According to sources, Adele found a workout routine that she enjoyed, which included Pilates, cardio and circuit training. In October 2020, Adele hosted Saturday Night Live, and revealed her full transformation on their iconic stage. She stated that the pandemic gave her extra time to focus on her health, but she’s also been focusing on living a happier, healthier life. She’s also been rumored to follow the Sirtfood diet, which targets a handful of nutrient rich foods, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Al Roker

Al Roker has been a well-known face for years as one of the most active personalities on the NBC network. Roker says he struggled with weight his entire life, but felt pretty laid-back about his size. When the “Fat Albert” television show came out, something clicked with him. Roker says Fat Albert embodied everything he saw of himself – a “fat black guy who is the center of attention and the butt of jokes”.

Unfortunately, this only worsened his self-image, and Roker struggled with binge eating for many years to come. After hitting 340 pounds, he decided to make a change. Although he initially underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2002, he took the opportunity to adopt a healthier lifestyle and make his weight transformation permanent. Since then, he’s adopted a ketogenic or “keto” diet, and managed to drop 40 more pounds. He still credits this diet to keeping him lean and healthy.

John Goodman

John Goodman is best known for playing Dan Conner on the sitcom Roseanne. Goodman struggled with his weight for many years, even after trying to lose weight on several occasions. In 2011, he was approaching the 400 pound mark, and decided that enough was enough. At this time, he immediately cut out alcohol from his life and began following the Mediterranean diet. The Mediterranean diet is focused on vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans and whole grains, complemented by poultry and fish. With this diet and improved exercise habits, to date, John Goodman has lost over 100 pounds. Today, he says he feels better mentally and physically and gets to enjoy many more years on screen and with his family.

Jonah Hill

Comedic actor Jonah Hill has built his career on being the large funny-man in Hollywood movies. From comedy films like Superbad and Knocked Up, to dramatic roles in films like Wolf of Wall Street and War Dogs, Jonah Hill’s size has been an important element of his characters. He’s been known to fluctuate in size over the years, and even had stints of successful weight loss thanks to a personal trainer. However, he didn’t get serious about weight loss until 2016, and has since maintained his slim physique.

Apparently, he didn’t do anything crazy. Hill says he simply visited a nutritionist who told him what to do to get his eating habits in order. After correcting his nutrition, he began running and doing daily pushups. Recently, he has taken to boxing to stay in shape, and says he’s still able to enjoy beer, but limits his consumption responsibly. Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson has had an impressive figure throughout most of her career. However, she took a break from her music career in 2015 to start a family, and shortly thereafter got pregnant with her son Eissa. As most mothers do, Jackson gained a significant amount of weight during her pregnancy. After giving birth to her son in January 2017, it took her less than a year to lose the entire 70 pounds of weight she gained during her pregnancy.

The most shocking part of her weight loss, however, is that she didn’t do any cardio. Instead, she focused on intense, 45-minute strength training routines at least four times a week. Another surprising fact is that she was able to eat plenty of carbs throughout her weight loss journey. All of this goes to show that it’s possible to achieve your goals while still enjoying the foods you love and even avoiding miserable cardio sessions.

Drew Carey

Drew Carey decided to get serious about his health after discovering his weight was putting him at risk for Type 2 diabetes. In 2010, he set a personal goal to drop over 90 pounds, which would take him from his weight of 262 pounds to his goal weight of 170 pounds. To many people’s surprise, including Carey himself, he was able to accomplish this in just 7 months. He initially began by limiting his carb intake and swapping out sodas for water. However, he quickly realized that exercise was an important component. With the help of a personal trainer, he now exercises 6 days a week, which includes a lot of walking and running. Today, Carey has managed to keep all of that weight off, and still looks unrecognizable compared to his appearance prior to his weight loss.

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr played the titular character in Roseanne, alongside John Goodman. Just like Goodman, she struggled with her weight for many years. In 1998, she reached 350 pounds, which motivated her to make an aggressive change. She started with a gastric bypass surgery, which helped her lose 80 pounds. She struggled with some fluctuations in weight in the following years, but got serious once again in 2014. This time, Barr followed what she jokingly called a revolutionary diet. This diet consisted of two simple things: eating less and moving more. Today, she says that she feels lighter on her feet and lighter in life, and maintains her positive, healthy outlook.

Mama June

Known for her role in the TV series Honey Boo Boo, Mama June once weighed as much as 460 pounds. Her transformation began in 2017, which was documented in the series “Mama June: From Hot to Not”. Throughout the series, Mama June combines plastic surgery, exercise and dieting to drop nearly two-thirds of her body weight and reach a final weight of 160 pounds. Her look was completed with a new hairstyle and dental work, leaving her completely unrecognizable from her previous image.

Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais, best-known for his role on The Office, has struggled with weight for many years. He’s had multiple successful attempts at losing weight, with his most notable transformation taking place in 2016. Unfortunately, he’s found that the weight has started creeping back. He previously had success losing weight with exercise. Today, though, he says he’s getting old and weak, and can no longer exercise enough to burn off the calories he consumes throughout the day. While he hasn’t fully given up on weight loss, he refuses to sacrifice his drinking habits and is content with whatever changes in weight come his way.Join Facts Verse to know the details about the dramatic celebrity weight loss transformation.

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt achieved one of the most well-known weight loss transformations in recent years. He started as the pudgy character Andy on Parks and Recreation. He was around 300 pounds at the time. However, opportunity called, and he decided to audition for Guardians of the Galaxy. After getting the role, he had to undergo a fast transformation to begin shooting the film. With an aggressive exercise routine, he was able to shed 60 pounds in just 6 months. He actually increased his calorie consumption to 4,000 calories a day, and his workouts included P90X, running, swimming, boxing and even a triathlon. Today, he feels that this transformation gave him a total sense of control, and he’s maintained his weight loss ever since.

These celebrities have all achieved weight loss in different ways, but they all seem to follow the same pattern: finding a nutrition and exercise routine that works for you and sticking to it.
