Remember the Titans Cast Then and Now

Not to be redundant, but do you remember Remember the Titans?

It was the true story of one of the finest High School football teams in history. The films won the hearts of audiences and the approval of critics, and just recently it celebrated its 20th anniversary.

On September 29, 2000, The Jerry Bruckheimer produced and Boaz Yakin directed film hit theaters and made history. With a modest budget of $30 million dollars, Remember The Titans went on to become a major box office success taking in nearly $137 million worldwide.

Lets take a minute to remember the cast of the film that helped break down racial barriers while celebrating the incredible life of Coach Herman Boone, the man responsible for coaching the 1971 T. C. William High School Football team to a 13 -0 season that clinched the state championship. And even became the national championship’s runner-up.

It”s always fascinating to see where up-and-coming actors end up years after their breakout roles. Did you know that hearthrob Ryan Gosling got one of his first big breaks in Remember The Titans? Denzel Washington Played Coach Herman

He took in several awards and nominations for his powerful role including the BET And Black Reel Award for Best Actor and the NAACP Image Awards prize for Outstanding Actor In a Motion Picture.

Washington doesn’t need much of an introduction as he already well known in Hollywood before he did the film. This 8 time Oscar nominee and 2 time winner went on to star in Training Day in 2001. A role that he ended up taking in his second Academy Award for and then made his debut as a direct for the film Antwon Fisher in 2002.

You’ve probably seen several of his other notable films as well including Man on Fire in 2004 and American Gangster in 2007.

More recently he directed and starred in Fences, a film that earned him another 2 Oscar Nods and he Starred in 2018s The Equalizer 2.

Denzel Married to Pauletta Pearson. The two wed in 1983. And they have four children together – all of which have gone on to work in show business in one way or another.

Will Patton Played Assistant Coach Bill Yoast

After production wrapped up on Remember the Titans, Patton’s career continued to flourish. He starred in 2002’s The Mothman Prophecies alongside Richard Gear and, The Punisher in 2004 and A Mighty Heart in 2007.

He’s also found success in television. He played an active role in CBS’s The Agency as Jackson Haisley from 2001 to 2003. And then he had a supporting role in Numbers as Lt Gary Walker from 2006 to 2007. From 2011 to 2015, he played Captain Dan Weaver in the post-apocalyptic series Falling Skies. And most recently, he’s played Garret Randall on Yellowstone.

Patton doesn’t like to put his private life on blast but what we do know is that this 66 year old Charleston, South Carolina native has a love for literature. Donald Faison Played Petey Jones

You probably also remember him form the film Clueless and it’s subsequent spin-off television show as Murray.

Following Remember the Titans he took roles in Uptown Girls in 2003 and Something New in 2006. He played Tracy on the JJ Abrams co-created drama series Felicity and Toots in the Clone High from 2002 to 2003.

You can’t mention Faison without bringing up his role as Christopher Turk in Scrubs. A role he played for nearly 10 years from 2001 to 2010 and nominated for multiple NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series.

Most recently he has played the main role of Alex Evans in the ABC series Emergence.

He has married to CaCee Cobb since 2012 and they have two children together, Rocco and Wilder. Additionally, the actor has four other children from other relationships – Sean, Dade, Kaya and Kobe.

Kip Pardue Played Ronnie ‘Sunshine’ Bass, The Quarterback

Born in Atlanta, Georgia in September of 1975, he got his start in the film industry on the Sitcom 7th Heaven as the character Chris. And that same year he played Clayton Dunn in But I’m a Cheerleader. After Remember the Titans he played Jimmy Bly in Driven in 2001. And Victor Johnson in the 2002 film The Rules of Attraction. Other notable films he had parts in include 2003’s Thirteen and Devil’s Pond.

He had a semi-regular role in ER in 2006 and acted in two episodes of Mad Men in 2013.

Most recently he starred in Runaways from 2017 to 2018. And has had small roles in Hawaii Five-O and Once Upon a Time.

In 2018, Sarah Scott from True Blood Alleged that Pardue had sexually harassed her while on the set of a pilot. Craig Kirkwood Played Quarterback Jerry ‘Rev’ Harris

Kirkwood played a bellboy in the 2003 film Calendar Girls and Corporal Sean Stilles in three episodes of JAG in 2002. But in the mid-2000s, he decided to leave Hollywood behind and decided to study law at Loyola Law School in LA. After Graduating in 2008, he passed his California Bar Exam and is now a practicing criminal defense attorney.

Wood Harris Played Julius Campbell

His career has been fairly successful following Remember The Titans. He played Avon Barksdale on The Wire from 2002 to 2008. And followed that up with roles in films like 2015s Ant-Man and Creed in 2017 and its sequel Creed II in 2018.

You can also catch him in Blade Runner 2049, and the 2012 Judge Dredd remake Dredd as Kay.

From 2018-2020 he has played Damon Cross on Fox’s Empire. And in 2019 he played Vince Vincetti in the YouTube Premium web series Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes On Television.

He’s married to Rebekah Harris since 2001 and the couple have 2 children together. He also has a third child that was born outside of wedlock.

Ryan Gosling Was Also On The Team As Alan Bosley

Despite having numerous roles as a child actor before Remember The Titans. It was because of that film that he really made the transition into being an adult actor. He starred in 2001s The Believer and started picking up more and more parts in films like Murder By Numbers in 2002 and The United States of Leland in 2003.

But it was his role in 2004’s The Notebook that transformed the actor into a superstar that every teenage girl in the universe was familiar with. He went on to star in 2007s Half Nelson. A role that landed him a Golden Globe nomination for best actor and then 2010s Blue Valentine which finally earned him him a Golden Globe win.

He starred in the box-office hits Crazy, Stupid, Love and Drive In 2011 and continued his steak of success with The Place Beyond The Pines in 2012 and La La Land in 2016 which proved to be his biggest hit to date in terms of critical response. He earned a Golden Globe, An Academy Award, A Sag Award nod and A BAFTA award nomination for Best Actor for that film.

Gosling dated Sandra Bullock and Rachel McAdams in the late 2000s and married Eva Mendes in 2011. The duo have had two daughters together, Esmeralda and Amada.

Ryan Hurst Played Gerry Bertier

Remember The Titans was the first major film that Ryan Hurst acted in. He went on to take a lead role in 2002’s We Were Soldiers and worked on the Coen Brothers film The Ladykillers in 2004. On television he’s played supporting roles on Medium, Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead.

Since 2019, he played Hector Bonner in the Amazon Prime web series Bosch.

He married Molly Cooksen in 2005 and since then he and his wife have started their own production company called Fast Shoes.

Earl Poltier Played Blue Stanton

He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana inn 1974. Before becoming an actor, he pursued a career in education, receiving his BA in Music Education at the University of Tampa and briefly teaching kindergarten at the USF Charter School.

After Remember The Titans, he acted on the TV shows Roswell, Burn Notice and Army Wives. He’s lived a relatively private life outside of the public lens since the 2000s. Ethan Suplee Played Louie Lastik

Remember Frankie the bully in Boy Meets world? Well, that was a young Suplee. He also played Seth Ryan in American History X alongside Edward Norton.

After Remember The Titans, he played Tuna in 2001s Blow starring Johnny Depp and Deke Donald in Evolution that same year. He went on to have roles in Ashton Kutchers 2004 sci-fi thriller The Butterfly Effect, The Wolf Of Wall-Street in 2013 most recently in the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet and NBC’s Good Girls.

One of his most memorable roles was that of Randy Hickey in My Name Is Earl which ran from 2005-2009.

Suplee is married to film producer Brandy Lewis, the sister of actress Juliette Lewis.

It hardly seems like its really been 20 years since Remember The Titans first hit theories. Although. To the actors that got their start in show business in the iconic film, it must feel like ancient history.

Sports films aren’t always as successful at launching careers like Remember The Titans was, but there is no denying that the film had a special bit of magic that likely had a lot to do with an incredible cast and terrific direction.
