The Ford dynasty isn’t as well-known, but they’ve made a major impact. Harold Ford Sr. charmed his way to becoming the first African-American congressman from Tennessee since the end of the Civil War. His son, Harold Ford Jr., hoped to continue that legacy. He also had political ambitions but wanted to help the world in his own way. He had the charisma to get a congressional seat. After that, he set his sights higher on the Senate.
That campaign didn’t go how he hoped. Attack ads from the other side ruined his reputation. He lost out by a slim margin. Harold decided to take it as a learning opportunity. He continued to be an important force, speaking on many political talk shows. He also had a head for numbers. He worked for banks and financial organizations such as Morgan Stanley. He wore many hats to keep them running smoothly.
It’s the former position that he recently lost. The Ford dynasty has never been able to fully escape controversy, and it’s come up again. Unsavory allegations got the ball rolling. He vehemently denies them, but they cost him many of his TV roles. That’s not the only reason he’s lost his position at Morgan Stanley. It’s a much deeper and more complex situation. The company’s reasoning isn’t completely clear for average Americans, but one thing is. He needs to heal any cracks it may create in his reputation if he wants to keep the Ford dynasty from toppling over.
