Conspiracy Theories
Conspiracy theories are very common today. The theories have become more of an epidemic since the evolution of social media. Thanks to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, conspiracy theorists are able to get their word out to millions of people where before social media, they had to use other, less public forums. Sadly, many people believe these conspiracy theories, which leads to high levels of mistrust in our country. Many of these conspiracy theories involve our government. The FBI Is Surrounded By Conspiracy Theories – But Some Of Them Are Truer Than You Might Think.
James Comey’s Webcam
James Comey was the head of the FBI back in 2016 when he visited Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. While there, he took part in a question-and-answer session with the students. During this session, he admitted that he put a piece of tape over the webcam on his laptop. He told the audience that he had seen something in the news about someone placing tape over their webcam camera for their protection. They were worried that someone could hack into their laptop and control the webcam. The person who Comey was speaking about believed that after gaining control of the webcam, they could spy him.
When Comey heard this, he started putting tape over his webcam as well. It seems as though a conspiracy theory duped the head of the FBI. Back in 2016, this was a conspiracy theory. Today, this is a real threat. According to the FBI, hackers have found a way to spy on everyday people through their smart TVs. For many, this is worrisome. The fact that hackers have a window to many people’s living rooms is unsettling.
Walt Disney Was An FBI Informant
Walt Disney is a hero to many. He is the man responsible for movies and cartoons that have been beloved by millions for generations. He is also responsible for creating the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland, and Disney World. Every year, millions of people flock to the wonderful place created by Disney. While many people think that they know all there is to know about the man. There is something that many people don’t know about him. Walt Disney was an informant for the FBI during the height of the McCarthy witch hunt. He even believed that some of his animators were communists. This may not sound like the fantastic storyteller we all love, but everyone has things in their past that they aren’t proud of. This is Disney’s.
The FBI Experimented With Psychics
When most people think about the FBI, they think about practical, intelligent decision-makers. FBI agents have to be smart, prepared, and even diabolical at times. This is why it is shocking that there was a time that the FBI turned to psychics for help. While most people believe that psychic visions and ESP are not real, it didn’t stop the FBI from trying to harness the power of ESP back in the ’50s. Over time, they realized that their experiments were going nowhere. Finally, in 1960, after being unable to find any credible evidence that ESP actually exists, they scrapped the project and all future experiments. Soon, stronger heads prevailed, and silly experiments like this came to an end.
The FBI Kept an Eye On the “Bad Guys” During the Cold War
During the Cold War, the FBI worked hard to keep the citizens of the United States safe. Paranoia was high back then, and they were worried about communists in the midst. This resulted in the FBI watching those who they believe were communists and were going to try to bring down America and the government. They observed many people for a good reason, and others, that they watched just didn’t make much sense. This was the case with Marilyn Monroe. For some reason, they believed that she had some sort of communist ties, and they started watching her in 1955. They didn’t realize right away that this was silly. They continued to watch the actress until her death in 1962. The FBI has never disclosed what made them suspect that Marilyn was up to something, and they have been relatively tight-lipped about it.
The Dead Baby Project
This is, by far, one of the most gruesome conspiracy theories that turned out to be true. The official name was Project Sunshine, and it took place right after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. During this time, the U.S. government wanted to study the effects of nuclear fallout on the human body. According to the conspiracy theory, the government was stealing dead bodies to do radioactive testing. The truth is that the government was stealing dead bodies, but it gets worse. They needed to test the effects on young tissue, so they recruited a worldwide network of agents to find recently deceased babies and children. They wanted to take samples from the babies and even limbs. These samples were all collected without the permission of over 1,500 grieving families.
