Arnold Schrhwarzenegger may not be the richest or highest-paid actor in the business (figures on who that is differ). Whatever the numbers say, he does deserve a spot near the top.
When he came from Austria with a unique accent and muscular figure, there wasn’t an immediate sign that he’d go on to be both rich and famous. Conan the Barbarian was a modest hit, but it didn’t earn him the six-figure salaries he’d go on to get later.
His name alone was eventually enough to convince studios to cough up massive amounts of money. He became part of massive franchises such as Terminator and Predator, along with individual hits such as Commando.
What surprised the world after pumping out so many action hits was that he could also be funny. Kindergarten Cop was a sweet departure from his usual image. Last Action Hero satirized it. Neither of them was a blockbuster, but their salaries for them were nothing to sneeze at.
What fans also don’t know is that Arnold has a head for business, which he’s passed on to his son Patrick. He survived the trip to America by saving up a fairly hefty sum. His ability to sign the right deals has made his work several times more lucrative than it could have been. It’s even the reason one forgotten film earned him more money than ever before.
