Chip And Joanna’s $18M Mansion Is Perfect, But It’s The Backyard Everyone Is Talking About

Chip and Joanna Gaines

Chip and Joanna are known for their HGTV show, Fixer Upper. The couple helps people find low-cost properties, and they fix them up to make it the house of their dreams. Chip is great with the construction, and Joanna is excellent with the design. The two work well together, and they are more in love than just about any couple in the world.

The Early Years

Chip and Joanna grew up in Waco, Texas, together. They went to the same school, and are three years apart. When they met, they both agree that it was love at first sight. The first time Chip saw Joananna was in a picture in his father’s shop. Right then and there, he decided that he would marry her. In 2003, they got married.

Many Homes

After being married, Chip and Joanna had many homes. After living in nine different houses, they finally found the one that would be their forever home. It wasn’t a turn-key home, and they had to do a lot of work to make it their ideal home.

The Farmhouse

The forever house that they chose wasn’t a mansion, but it was going to be a massive renovation project. They bought the farmhouse in 2012, and it had two bedrooms and an unfinished attic. The house wasn’t in the best shape, so they needed to do a lot of work to get it ready for their expanding family. It took them 18-months to renovate the house because they were working on renovation projects for their clients at the same time. During the renovation process, Joanna found a lot of paperwork dating back to 1895. Not only did they purchase a gorgeous farmhouse, but it also had a story behind it.

Moving In

The family was able to move into their farmhouse in October 2013. With their growing family, Chip and Joanna knew that they needed space, but they didn’t want to lose any of the old charm and history of the property. Because of this, Joanna kept the extensions to a minimum, and only extended the master bedroom. Before moving in, they had to add fixtures and fittings to make the house suitable for their family. She stuck with neutral colors throughout and used the classic wooden beams as a focal point.

The Entrance and the Kitchen

The entrance is neutral colors, and there is an inspirational quote hanging on the wall along with the letter G, for Gaines. The kitchen is very modern and comfortable, and the wood beam features really bring it out. There is also plenty of room for the whole family to sit and enjoy a meal.

Dining and Living Rooms

The dining room is also large enough for the whole family, and there is a lounge area nearby that gives you a comfortable place to sit. Joanna added many accents and accessories that really bring the room together. The living room is sweet and functional, and there are plenty of extra charms that make the areas strikingly beautiful. Most of the pieces come from Joanna’s Magnolia Market.

Master Bedroom Addition

The couple wanted another place besides the living room to unwind, which is why they put an addition on their master bedroom. They added two comfortable chairs and a desk in the bedroom, to give them a little getaway, away from the rest of the family. Joanna wanted to use the room for more than just sleeping. The entrance to the master bath is fantastic. The doors make the bathroom look more like the entrance to a hobbit hole than to a bathroom. It is unique and gorgeous.

Growing Family

The kids’ bedrooms are set up for a growing family. The girls have a gorgeous, little girl look. The boys’ room has bunk beds with steel frames, and there are four beds. This gives them plenty of room for an expanding family. For the kids, Joanna transformed the attic into a craft room so that they can be creative on the third floor of the house. She even made a crafting room for herself and Joanna.

Outside

Chip and Joanna’s $18M mansion is perfect, but it’s the backyard everyone is talking about. They own 40-acres of beautiful farmland complete with trees, plants, and shrubs. They also have a chicken coop and a silo. There is a greenhouse on the property, with an enclosed garden. This was important to them because they want to teach their children about gardening. There is also a large porch that allows them to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery. This is just another fantastic part of the property that the couple has worked so hard to create and build.
