MAN GIVES HEART WRENCHING GOODBYE TO PIT BULL BUT VOWS TO RETURN, SWEETEST REUNION EVER

Dogs

Most people own dogs for the joy that they bring. Sure, dogs are a lot of responsibility, but the rewards that come from owning a dog outweigh the hard work. When you come home, your dog is excited to see you. When you are sad, your dog senses it, and he will do whatever he can to cheer you up. You always have a companion close by when you have a dog.

Your Home

If you are renting your home, you need to make sure that dogs are allowed. You don’t want to adopt a dog, fall in love with him, only to find out that you need to send him away due to the rules that were set. There are some dog owners who have a dog for a while, only to have a new landlord come in and change the rules. This means that the dog needs to find a new home, leaving the owner with a huge hole in their heart. This is what happened to Lewis Jimenez and his family.

Titus

Titus is a Pit Bull, who has brought Joy to Lewis and his whole family. While Pit Bulls have reputations of being mean and violent dogs, Titus wasn’t. He was very loving and very friendly to the entire family. It didn’t take long before Titus became an important member of the family. Things were going great for the family until Lewis got a letter in the mail.

Eviction

Lewis checked his mail one day, and there was a letter from the landlord. It said that either the family got rid of Titus, or they would face eviction. Lewis was shocked. Why would his landlord be putting this rule in place now? He didn’t have the money to move at the time. Between the security deposit, the first-month rent, and the moving costs, there was no way that he would be able to find a pet-friendly apartment for his family to live. He was devastated. He was going to need to find Titus a temporary home so that he could save up some money to move.

Friends and Family

Lewis didn’t know what to do about Titus. He called his family members and many of his friends. He was hoping that someone close to him could take Titus until the family was able to bring Titus home again. Unfortunately, everyone he asked had a reason why they were unable to do help. It wasn’t that these people didn’t want to help; they just couldn’t. Some lived in apartments that weren’t pet-friendly like Lewis. Some had dog allergies, and others just worked too much and didn’t have the time to care for Titus. Sadly, Lewis only had one other option.

Austin Animal Center

The only option that Lewis had was to bring Titus to the Austin Animal Center. He brought Titus to the shelter, and he let them know that Titus would need to be there for just four months. The people at the shelter had heard this many times. People often dropped off their dogs at the center and then never came back to pick them up. This is what they assumed would happen with Titus. Watching Lewis say goodbye to Titus was heartbreaking for the staff at the shelter, but it is something that they saw often. They figured that Lewis and his family would eventually forget about Titus, and he would remain at the shelter long term.

Frequent Visits

Lewis surprised the staff at the shelter when he started coming once a week to visit Titus. Even though it wasn’t possible for him to take the dog home, he came every week and played with Titus for a while. The staff at the shelter say that the frequent visits were great for Titus. They say that it was almost as if Titus was waiting and looking forward to his weekly visits.

Reuniting

Finally, the day came that Lewis was going to bring Titus home. He found a pet-friendly apartment, and it was time for Titus to return home to his family. Many of the staff members who were skeptical about the family taking Titus home were thrilled that they came back to pick him up. When Lewis was reunited with Titus, and he saw his leash, the dog knew that he was finally going home. He couldn’t have been happier.

Posting To Facebook

After Lewis took his beloved dog home, the staff at the shelter posted Titus’ story on Facebook. They posted a picture of Titus and Lewis together. In the post, they wrote about how Lewis and his family had raised Titus from a puppy. They were the only family that the dog had ever known. They wrote, “Yesterday was the day we’ve all been waiting for. With new housing in place, Titus’ dad came to take him home. As you can see from the photos, happiness is an understatement for this moment.”

Viral

The post quickly went viral. People from all over the country were sharing the post. It isn’t too often that there is a story with a happy ending at an animal shelter. Titus is finally where he belongs. This man gives heart wrenching goodbye to Pit Bull but vows to return, sweetest reunion ever.
