Man Mutters “I Wonder If That’s Him” Upon Sight Of Scarred Teen Only To Discover It’s Boy From 13 Haunting Yrs Ago

Fate

Some people believe in fate. They believe that fate steps in at times to make amazing things happen. Others believe that there is no such thing as fate. They think that these are mere coincidences make these incredible things happen. This is one story that is so astonishing that the only explanation is that fate stepped in at the right time.

Chris Thorp

Chris Throp lives with his wife in California. He is the Co-Program Manager of Operation Enduring Warrior-Task Force Sentinel. It is his job to oversee programs that reach out to wounded veterans and former soldiers. These programs help injured veterans get the rehabilitation and the support that they need. He has dedicated his life to protecting others.

A Chance Encounter

Christ picked his wife up from work one day. Her car was in the shop being repaired, and he was going to bring her there to pick it up. When they pulled into the parking lot, Chris noticed a young man with burn scars on his face and his body. He stopped the car and stared at the teen. His wife assumed that he was a wounded veteran that her husband had helped. Chris continued to stare at the young man and mumbled, “I wonder if that’s him.” Man mutters “I wonder if that’s him” upon sight of scarred teen only to discover it’s boy from 13 haunting yrs ago.

Thirteen Years Ago

Thirteen years earlier, Chris was driving on Highway 101 off Windsor when he spotted an accident. When Chris pulled over, the car caught on fire, and there was a toddler in the car. He and a few others began beating the fire with their jackets so that they could get the little boy out of the car. They pried the door open and saved the boy’s life. A few weeks later, Chris was awarded the Gold Medal of Valor for saving the toddler’s life. When he was given the medal, he kept it in his glove compartment. He didn’t know why at the time, but fate had a reason.

Approaching the Teen

When Chris’ wife got out of the car and went into the garage, Chris walked over to the teen. He realized that he might be embarrassing himself, but he had to know if the teen was who he thought he was. He approached the teen and asked him if his name was Christian. The teen told him it was so he decided to ask the boy a few questions to be sure that it really was him. Chris asked if he was in an accident when he was a toddler on Highway 101. When Christian confirmed that he had, Chris says that he got goosebumps all over his body. What are the odds that he would run into the boy whose life he saved 13-years earlier? What are the odds that Chris would even recognize Christian?

Returning the Medal

When Chris told Christian who he was, Christian thanked him for saving his life all those years ago. Then Chris did something amazing. He went over to his car, and he got the medal from his glove compartment. He told Christian that he was given the medal for saving the boy’s life. He gave Christian the medal. Christian looked at him in shock.

Why?

Christian asked Chris why he was giving him the medal. Chris told the teen that he was the real hero that day. He said that when he was a boy, he fought for his life and he made it. Chris told him that the medal always belonged to him and that Chris was just holding it for him.

Posting the Story On Facebook

Chris and Christian took a photo together, and when Chris got home, he uploaded it to Facebook. Along with the picture, he posted a caption that read, “He accepted it, and in a lot of ways I realized I had been merely it’s Keeper until the time came for him to take possession. He and his family are such a big part of my life.”

It Was Fate

Chris is sure that fate stepped in that day and brought Chris and Christian in the same parking lot at the same time. The toddler had been on his mind every day since the day he pulled him from that car.

Christian’s Feelings

Christian says that he was thrilled that day to meet Chris. For years, he heard the stories of the brave men who pulled him out of the car when he was a toddler, saving his life. While he didn’t remember the accident, he heard the stories about it often. He thinks that it is incredible that he was finally able to thank Chris for saving him.
