Bob Saget as Part of Casting on Full House

According to Bob Saget, his casting on Full House was an accident. He had just been fired from another sitcom, and asked to try out for the role of Danny Tanner. Although the role totally out of the comedian’s comfort zone, he ended up being an unlikely perfect fit. The audience took to Bob’s portrayal of the character. And surprise when they inevitably learned that Bob’s real-life demeanor wasn’t anything like the clean and conservative Danny Tanner.

Thanks to his Full House fame, Bob secured a similar family-oriented television gig hosting America’s Funniest Home Videos. Though the show has had many hosts since, Bob remains a favorite of those who grew up watching the show during the days that the Full House star was on it. Bob’s role on the series brought him more attention then ever before.

In addition to Bob Saget, Full House also starred Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin, and the Olsen twins. Candace and Jodie both returned for recent reboot series Fuller House. Which also found some room for Bob Saget as a guest star. Although Bob Saget came under fire in recent years for incidents in which he allowed his adult sense of humor in front of the child actors during the filming of Full House; The comedian still remained a widely loved and nostalgic figure in the eyes of the fans.

Fuller House Success

The success of Netflix reboot series Fuller House emblematic of Full House’s legacy. Though it’s success certainly hurt the fact that fan favorites such as Dave Coulier, John Stamos, and Bob Saget himself relegated to mere guest-star status. Despite the fact that it didn’t retain the full cast from the original series, Fuller House ended up lasting five seasons before coming to an end in 2020.
