One movie that let Robin show his ability to master all forms of human emotion was Mrs. Doubtfire. He played a man who dresses up as a nanny to spend more time with the children he’s about to lose custody of. It may not sound like the recipe for a perfect family feature, but it was. Robin elevated it above the silly premise and made it a classic.

The child actors who worked with him on it remember him fondly to this day. They remember how he wasn’t afraid to challenge them. Working with a versatile ad-libber full of so much manic energy meant they had to stay on their toes. They also genuinely considered him a friend. He taught them everything he could in their short time together.

Robin Williams’ death in 2014 was devastating to them and the entertainment industry as a whole. He was more than a foul-mouthed comic or an acting chameleon. He was a kind man who cared about others. That’s why he went the extra mile when he saw that his castmates were suffering. It didn’t matter if they were children. He didn’t sit around and wait for someone else to step in; he did something about it.

Robin stayed that way until the end of his life. His kind actions on the Mrs. Doubtfire cast prove it. They serve as a reminder of why he was so beloved. Fans paid it forward by leaving messages of love at the original Mrs. Doubtfire house.
