Studios realize that there may be plenty of actors out there, but the best ones are worth investing in. Their name alone can help a project sink or swim. That’s why many actors put specific conditions in their contracts. They’ll only agree to sign on if the specific conditions are met. Movies are a business, after all.

Not all of these stipulations are set to benefit the actors themselves. Sometimes, an actor will put it in their contract that they must be allowed to work with their favorite fellow members of Hollywood.
It’s also common for actors to use their contracts to battle with each other. They can use it to insist on top billing or that their vision for a project gets realized. Actors can also use a contract to have a better time filming. They may insist on luxury accommodations or time off to enjoy their favorite sports.

Contractual stipulations are still important because actors can use them to fight for themselves. A line in a contract can serve as protection in case the project goes south. Setting specific stipulations is also a way to fight against anything they don’t want in a project they were part of. That can cover a wide range of areas, including anything from voice dubbing to nudity. Some of the clauses they’ve included regulate areas you might not expect.
