When 4 Boys Sneak Into An Elderly Woman’s Yard She Grabs Them And The Tears Flow

Getting Older

When people start getting older, it becomes more and more difficult for them to do the things that they once could. Cooking, cleaning, and yard work that was once simple becomes very challenging. When this happens, many people get help. Some people have family members who are willing to step in and do what they can. Others hire help. If a person doesn’t have family and they cannot afford to hire someone to do their chores, life can be very difficult. In cases like this, the chores are left undone, the house is a mess, and the yard is overgrown. It is a very sad reality. Most people cannot rely on the kindness of strangers to get the help that they need becasue chances are, it won’t come.

Gerry Suttle

Gerry Suttle is a 75-year-old woman from Riesel, Texas. She had spent most of her life in the same home. Her husband has passed away years earlier, and she had no help around the house. Being 75-years-old made it difficult for Gerry to keep her home and lawn tidy. Getting the barrels to the curb on trash day was close to impossible.

Town Ordinance

In the town of Riesel, there was a law that banned residents from letting their grass grow longer than 18-inches long. They did this to keep the town looking its best. Since Gerry was getting older, she couldn’t get out into her large yard to mow her lawn. It would have taken many hours of mowing to cut the grass, which was something that she couldn’t handle. She could barely get through dusting and sweeping her home. There was no way that she would be able to push a mower around for hours in the hot Texas sun.

Notice to Appear

When a police officer drove by Gerry’s home and saw how long the grass had grown, they had to do something. Gerry got a letter in the mail saying that she had to appear for court. Unfortunately, she never got the letter. Since she didn’t know about the court date, Gerry never showed up. This resulted in the police putting out a warrant for her arrest. They were actually going to throw an elderly woman in jail for having long grass. As insane as it sounds, there was actually a warrant signed by a judge to arrest this poor, 75-years-old woman.

Small Towns

Because Riesel is a small town, everyone knows everything about everyone else. Since people in town talk, it wasn’t long before word of the warrant for Gerry’s arrest spread. The residents of the town couldn’t believe that the police were going to throw an elderly woman in prison. Many of the residents knew Gerry becasue she had lived in town for so long. They knew that they couldn’t let this poor woman be hauled off by the police.

Local News

The story eventually got to the local news, and they ran a story about Gerry’s situation. Four boys, the Reynolds brothers, decided that they were going to do something to help. According to one of the brothers, Blake, it made him feel bad that they were going to throw a 75-year-old woman in jail for failing to cut her lawn. The boys headed over to Gerry’s house with their four lawnmowers, and they started cutting her grass.

More Help

When people in town saw what the boys were doing, more help arrived. People from all over town were there to help cut, weed, and care for the lawn. When Gerry looked out her window and saw half the town outside working on her yard, it brought her to tears. 4 boys sneak into old woman’s yard, when she grabs hold of them; the tears start flowing.

Gerry’s Reaction

When Gerry saw what was happening and she found out who was responsible, she said, “I am very seldom without words. This is one time. You might want to mark it down in history that I didn’t have something to say.” After that, she hugged the boys who started it all.

Future Help

Even though the Reynolds brothers had never met Gerry, they made a promise. They told her that they would come cut her lawn before it reached 18-inches long. They didn’t want to see her in trouble with the law, and they would help her, so it never happened again.

Grateful

Gerry is grateful for what the boys did for her and what they are going to do in the future. If there were more people in the world like the Reynolds brothers, it would be a better place. These boys are young. Most people look at young kids as being selfish and self-centered. The Reynolds brothers have proven that theory wrong.
