Following the success of American Pie, Scott found himself typecast in comedic roles, appearing in films such as Dude, Where’s My Car? (2000) alongside Ashton Kutcher, Road Trip (2000), and Old School (2003). His ability to play the wild, over-the-top character led to a series of similar roles, cementing him as a staple of the raunchy comedy genre. However, Scott also attempted to diversify his career with action films like Bulletproof Monk (2003) and The Rundown (2003), though they did not achieve the same level of success.

In the late 2000s, he enjoyed further popularity with Role Models (2008) and voiced Crash in Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006) and its sequels. However, as Hollywood’s landscape shifted away from the crude comedies that defined his early success, Scott found it increasingly difficult to land major roles. Despite his talent and comedic timing, he became somewhat of a relic of a bygone era of comedy, struggling to transition into more serious or leading roles.

His career struggles were compounded by Hollywood’s changing preferences, which began to favor more nuanced and diverse storytelling. While he continued working in smaller projects, including the Goon films (2011, 2017), his mainstream appeal waned. His brief stint replacing Clayne Crawford in Lethal Weapon (2018–2019) was a rare high point, but the show was canceled after one season.

Despite these setbacks, Scott remains a well-liked actor with a dedicated fan base. While he may not be the Hollywood star he once was, his legacy as one of the defining comedic actors of the early 2000s remains strong, and many fans still hope for a major career resurgence.
