Following her role in the series, Kate continued to be a successful actress. In the 1980s, she is on another television series, with her role of Amanda King on the Scarecrow and Mrs. King. Although the show, upon its 1983 premiere, is nowhere near the breakout success that Charlie’s Angels nearly a decade prior. It proves that Kate is still an actress with longevity in the industry.
Sadly, Kate’s role in the series Scarecrow and Mrs. King needs an early end because her health concerns in the 1980s. In 1987, Kate Jackson was diagnosed with breast cancer. That same year, Scarecrow and Mrs. King came to an end. Kate begins undergoing chemotherapy, and her cancer says to be lessening as a result of the treatment. However, a few years later, cancer came back. This resulted in the actress undergoing a mastectomy, and she has been cancer-free ever since! Her first notable role on a television program comes with a 1970 appearance on the supernatural soap opera Dark Shadows. Kate’s initial appearance on the series was successful, and she continued appearing on the program through 1971. She can be in one of the series’ theatrical adaptations, that being 1971’s Night of Dark Shadows. Other films that Kate sees include Loverboy and Making Love.
Kate Jackson was born on October 29, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama. Her father is a wealthy business executive, giving her a privilege in the prestigious Brooke Hill School for Girls. When it comes to the young woman pursuing her higher education, she chooses to attend the University of Mississippi. However, soon after enrollment, she decides that she didn’t need a college education and wanted to jump straight into acting.
Instead of attending the University of Mississippi, Kate Jackson instead decided to dedicate herself to taking on an apprenticeship at the Stowe Playhouse, which was located in Stowe, Vermont. She moved to Virginia for a period of time, where she reconnected with childhood friends. Later, she moved to Utah with her third husband, who was a ski lodge owner by the name of Tom Hart. Kate had met Tom while vacationing at his lodge in Aspen, Colorado. They met in the year 1989, and tied the knot in 1991, after which Kate became the stepmother of Tom’s children. Sadly, the union didn’t last very long, with the marriage falling apart in 1993.
Prior to Tom, Kate had been married twice, with neither of these previous marriages being any more successful than her third. Despite taking Tom’s children as her own during their marriage, Kate never had any children of her own up until that time period. Kate’s first marriage was to Andrew Stevens, whom she wed in 1978 and divorced in 1981. The year following her first divorce, she married a man by the name of David Greenwald. This marriage only lasted for two years, with the pair divorcing in 1984.
Following Kate’s divorce from her third husband, it seems that she has decided not to remarry. However, she did adopt a child of her very own just a few years after her divorce from Tom. Kate adopted her son, Charles Taylor Jackson, in 1995.
